In a nutshell, Third World
Internet Marketers are Internet Marketers that are living in a Third World
Internet Country. In the general context, Third World
Internet Marketers are those residing in a country where:
-
the Internet connectivity/accessibility
is less than 50% of the population (i.e., less than 50% of the population
have access or are connected to the Internet).
-
English is not the national
language and/or widely spoken.
-
credit/debit cards are not widely used or
perceived as an unsafe mode of payment.
In the context of Internet
Marketing, Third World Internet Marketers face the challenges of not being
able to utilize some of the following vital services:
A crucial and established service
to accept credit cards, debit cards, and bank account payments
for low transaction fees, a must especially for those just
venturing out into online business, and an excellent option for
receiving payment.
PayPal's service is extended to 55
countries and territories (as at this point of writing), BUT only
users from 12 countries (i.e., Australia, Austria, Belgium,
Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland,
United Kingdom, and United States) can enjoy a
full service, including accessing PayPal using a website customized for
each country. Users from another 14 countries (i.e., Denmark,
Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand,
Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, and Taiwan)
can withdraw funds to either a local or a U.S. bank account.
Users from 29 other countries are restricted either they cannot withdraw funds,
or can only withdraw funds by check or into a US bank account. These
makes PayPal not a feasible means for your business as accepting payments online
for low transaction fees, and the ability to withdraw directly
to your bank account is one of the fundamental factors for
success.
It also limits Third World Internet Marketers an additional
option to accept payment from client, and as we all know, PayPal
is one of the most (if not the most) popular payment option.

Another popular payment
processing option (for selling non-tangible products only), which is
regarded as more dependable than PayPal. Although its payment processing
service is not free (i.e., there is a small set-up amount), ClickBank
doubles up as an affiliate program provider and can thus provide
affiliates or resellers to help you sell your products/services.
ClickBank may accept clients from
112 countries at present but many Third World
Internet Countries are unfortunately not included. In a sense, ClickBank also limits Third World
Internet Marketers' earning potential from utilizing their built-in
affiliate program service as well as reselling for thousands of their
customers in their marketplace.
Additionally, ClickBank is one of
the most popular payment option (second to PayPal), and many Third World Marketers
from a country which is not accepted by ClickBank are prohibited to purchase relevant Internet
marketing tools/services that are essential for their success.
The above is just
two of the crucial services that a Third World Marketer may not be
able to utilize to its full potential in addition to the general
definition. More attributes can be
added to the definition of a Third World Marketer, but since the ability to
accept online payment is undoubtedly one the of most important success
factors for an Internet business, the aspects detailed above are more
than suffice for this discussion, at least for the moment.
