In business, we are supposed to take a
little time out of our day or week to brainstorm, but most of us are
just too tied-up. Creating web content, marketing, responding to emails,
etc. So, if your web business appears to be stagnant - no increment in
sales, inquiries or hits - it just serves to remind you to TAKE A BREAK!
It is time to do a little bit of
brainstorming. New ideas are usually the difference between success and
failure. You need to take time out to find ideas to fine-tune your
business or web site.
Below are 8 simple but amazing ideas to
kick start your business:
1. Find a Strategic Joint Venture
Partner.
Look for ones that have the same
objective, related-content and/or services, but never your direct
competitor. You can trade leads, share ideas and marketing info, sell
package deals, etc.
2. Re-Brand Your Name and Business.
You may have stop doing this due to the
initial increase in the number of customers, but you can easily do this
again by just writing articles (new or recycle) and submitting them to
e-zines or web sites for republishing. They are more new sites accepting
articles now than a year ago.
3. Model Other Successful Business or
People.
I'm not saying out right copy them, but
practice some of the same habits that have made them succeed. You are
your business may be missing one little ingredient to expand further.
One minor adjustment and you business could be revitalized.
4. Take Risks To Improve Your Business.
Perhaps when you are starting out, you may
not want to advertise unless it's free, as you may be on a shoe-string
budget. It may be time to spend some money to get results.
5. Rewrite Your Content or
Advertisement.
If you haven't change your web site
content much for awhile, then, it may need a bit of enhancement. It may
also be your website design that needs to be re-designed to spice up
visitors' attention. Or, perhaps, you are still using the same
advertisement you used a year ago.
6. Out Source Part of Your Workload.
You may not have time to think of
strategies to grow your business as you are too busy doing everything.
Free yourself of one or two minor tasks, even if you have to pay a
little extra. You could out source your web design, secretarial work,
accounting, marketing, etc.
7. Combine a Product and Service
Together in a Package Deal.
It could increase your sales. If you're
selling a book, offer an hour of consulting with it.
8. Go on a Vacation!
Perhaps, the problem is YOU! You may be
burnt out. Go somewhere relaxing with your family or loved ones, and
take your mind off your business for awhile. Visit another country (the
more foreign or exotic the better, such as the little known rainforest kingdom of
Borneo for example) and get
broader ideas from a different culture, tradition and perspective. This
is what I always do and with great effect. Every time I came back from a
vacation, I developed simple but great ideas.
On the last idea, it is noteworthy that in
the mid-1990s two young Americans were inspired by a simple but
profitable idea when holidaying in Thailand to establish Planet
Holiday (now molded into the larger
Precision Reservations) a
highly successful hotel reservation website.
Tired? Go, TAKE A BREAK! It could be a
really profitable one.
